Adrie van der Merwe is a distinguished Namibian legal practitioner with more than three decades of experience in property law, estate administration, trusts, conveyancing, notarial practice, and legal reform. She serves as a Senior Legal Practitioner, Conveyancer and Notary Public at Fisher, Quarmby & Pfeifer Attorneys (FQP), one of Namibia’s oldest and most respected law firms.
Admitted as an attorney of the High Court of Namibia in 1991, a Notary Public in 1991, and a Conveyancer in 1992, Adrie has built an exceptional reputation for her expertise in property transactions, administration of deceased estates, trusts, local authority law, and authentication of documents for international use. She currently heads the Estates Department at FQP and holds postgraduate qualifications in Deceased Estates Practice and Advanced Estate and Trust Administration.
Throughout her distinguished career, Adrie has played a significant role in the advancement of Namibia’s legal framework. She previously served as President and Councillor of the Law Society of Namibia and contributed to important legislative reforms, including the Married Persons Equality Act, the Deeds Registries Amendment Act, maintenance legislation, domestic violence legislation, and initiatives concerning the recognition of customary marriages. She has also served on the Law Reform and Development Commission of the Government of Namibia through presidential appointment.
